Recognise your history: Re-narrating the ‘glorious’ Indian Partition 1947
There exist narratives surrounding the Indian Partition 1947 that we don’t see in our textbooks or hear about in the streets. Oral histories from various archival sources about trauma, violence, colonial legacies highlight more ‘real’ and human accounts of the war that still affect us. Living in a past that glorifies this independence war does not reflect what actually took place. This gloriousness and fuelled antagonism is something still present today; a narrative that demands re-examination to reach a more truthful reflection.
